How Did the Duke Convince Gaus?
A young boy was so clever that he convinced a local duke to sponsor his education. He worked it out by spotting that one plus a hundred is a hundred and one. So the sum of all f the numbers from one up to a hundred is 50 times a 100 and one, which is 50 50. The consequence of that makes it not apocryphal, as the teacher thought: this is a very, very clever boy.
