Dehumanization in Ancient Societies

This chapter explores the concept of dehumanization in ancient societies by examining patterns within creation narratives, historical practices, and cultural contexts. It delves into the association of animality with beings that precede and surround humans, as well as the dehumanization of foreigners and slaves. The chapter also discusses the projection of our own dark sides onto foreign individuals and the impact of European colonialism on the perception of art objects from Africa and other colonized countries.
