When you're writing, there's not much production involved at the early stages. I'll just be playing something on guitar or working something out and then taking it to the studio from there once I've had the song. For this record, a lot of it was made in the studio. Miss Universe was another kind of experiment, because a lot of the songs were old songs that I'd been working on for a while. Some of them were good enough to keep, and some of them were like, let's do live versions of these... You never know if you've gone too far away from the original version.
