In mexico, i don't remember reading american literature in any consistent or guided way. Only later did i go to the af just as i was about to leave mexico ande wander through europe,. i remember reading mavite msonin in a spanish translation. Then didn't return to that book for many years. But it was sitting in my memory very comfortably, and in some ways, asking to be revisited...
