I think it's not just that the idea that humans have an inherent value is plainly a theological assumption, something that can only be underpinned by a sense of faith. Scientifically, there's no way in which science can demonstrate that is true. But I think also there's the sense that actually that our kind of post-Christian ideology, secular, liberal, whatever you want to call it, progressive ideology, is rather anemic and rather boring.
