Scaling Your Language Models Is Like Trying to Go to the Moon by Building Taller Skyscrapers
There are some people who think that through continually scaling these language models to larger and larger sets of parameters, you will eventually cross some sort of threshold. We don't yet have the technology to do that. The more confusing case will be when these things start getting more and more online in ways where you don't actually know if the person you're interacting with is a language model or not. Right now it's more a matter of economics. Like with bots, traditionally, you want to have a ton of them and you want them to be very cheap.
