Is Explicit Medical Cognition a Cognitive Gadget?
The author and Cecilia Haysa say medical cognition is like mind reading or theory of mind in that it's culturally acquired. We don't intentionally teach our children to be metacognitive, not necessarily, but just in the natural interaction between parents and children. The building blocks of implicit medical cognition might be what they call a more genetic starter kit.
