Part Two: The Ballad of Wally George

Behind the Bastards

CHAPTER

Wally George and the Right Wing Media

By 19 84, an audience of mostly college age men were waiting up to six months for their chance to sit in his 80 persons studio audience. They'd shout wally, wally, and wear shirts with american flags on them, roaring until het forced them to stop. Where joe pine could be mocking and even cruel, as long as he maintained an air of genteel politeness, wally george was free to scream, shout and even strike people. In this walliy completed the transition from joe pine, a right wing firebrand whose work was still firmly rooted in the outward civility of the 19 fifties, to modern right wing media.
