The Artistic Child
The very possibility of seeing a direct effect of your actions in the world, may come to seem illusory. Crawford says that we attempt to exist living between this highly individualistic ideal where we're supposed to be the unencumbered, free self who acts freely. In reality, we're frustrated by the insecurities and obscurities of our world, and we must retreat into the artistic ideal. The artistic state is easiest to understand if you consider early childhood development.
