The History of New Construction in the Middle Ages
Only a small minority of people were even literate in the mediaeval world. There was an additional, additional world of technical and artisnal knowledge which carried on a kind of life of its own. The intellectual world that flourished from the eleventh through the fourteenth centuries was a rich it was complex. But none the less, it was fairly aloof and isolated fom most of the rest of society.
