i think i'm right, you can sort of see di diogenes laertius putting some of plato's views from the republic into his mouth at this time. And in reality, it's kind of more likely to be the other way around, right? That the interest of the ruler alone is not the best end. I mean, plato is probably thinking through some of these ideas, and he's in the court of this tyrant,. He's suggesting that maybe, just like you, satisfying you own personal desires is not the point of ruling - which will become the kick off insight of the republic.
