The Origins of Chromosomes and DNA

In the middle of the 19th century Walther Fleming in anatomists from Germany discovered a fibrous structure within the nucleus of the cell he named this structure chromatin but what he actually discovered is what we now know as chromosomes. Later on American Walter Sutton found it possible to distinguish individual chromosomes undergoing meiosis and he was able to correctly identify the sex chromosome. And so there's another term you're definitely going to see on the MCAT called ploidy and what is ploidy? There's I mean probably the most confusing questions I've seen onMCAT are about ploidy.
