The Importance of Patient Advocates in Africa
In May, I spent a week in Malawi in Africa bringing together patient advocates from Eastern and Southern Africa. The Ukraine project kicked off something I called WeCan, the Women's Empowerment Cancer Advocacy Network. So we're educating and empowering the advocates for introducing them to their local government officials or healthcare providers. But most importantly, we're creating a network where they can support each other and show each other what they've done and best practices.
