I think one of the most striking things about the contemporary world is precisely the death tradition. I find that it's increasingly difficult to maintain any of the sort of old left commitments, whether it be the welfare state or more disruptive notions of how production should be organized. The radical liberal individualist project undermines itself. It can't maintain any sort of a political cohesion, it can't maintained any sort of legitimacy and so on. And so it's really dealing with the inevitable a collapse or self destruction of that that we're actually facing. So do you think anyone's at home in the contemporary world? Basically, i mean, by your own bootstraps,. rather than pulling yourself up by your
