The Power of Get Togethers

With their three issues in hand, Get Up held about 100 Get Togethers across the country. People really were very conscious that when you've got a democracy in which the coal industry has a close relationship to a government and where big businesses get tax breaks from the government,. you've got something that's functioning to prioritise big businesses over everyday people. So one of the key things that came out of these Get Togethers around the country was Get Up members saying, beyond just putting these issues on the agenda, we really want to start breaking down that relationship between big business and the government. It was a real bottom-up strategy.
