Is Two You Convert Really Unreliable?

Two you convert only works on certain firm ware versions that ship with the with these plug devices. Two yer, or whoever it is that makes the original soft ware, has tried to prevent two you convert from working. It seems a bit of a missed opportunity by these companies that they could actually just get on board. There must be some inherent value in that device being on your network and running their firm ware. Otherwise, why would they go to such lengths to block you from doing that perceived potential value?
