The Effects of Fructose on the Liver
When an animal eats a lot of fructose, they activate the system to help them survive when there's not food around. It causes metabolic inflexibility. So the fat can't break down to support the ATP. And it's because it drops the ATP. That's the whole key. Whereas if you eat all other calories, they build up ATP. Now, when you eat a lot of glucose, we've shown that when the glucose gets converted to fructose and the ATP falls. But most of these things like insulin resistance, hypertension, are all driven by the fructose component.
