The Choctaw in Ireland

The Choctaw were forced on a death march from Mississippi to Oklahoma by the United States government eight years earlier. The Choctaw hear about what has happened to these Irish people and despite being desperately impoverished, they take up a collection and gather $700 worth of money for relief. That is still very much remembered by the Irish people today. There's a monument to the Choctaw.
