The Doorway to the Kitchen Was Closed
Hubert saw the kitchen door shut in his face. He went into the back sitting room and stared at it for a moment. Then he heard Rose's voice: "The tea is ready, I don't want any tea" She had no right to behave like this; she was in the wrong. Hubert wished he hadn't seen the door close. But when had he ever walked home from work? Never.
