She chose not to pursue a relationship with her father as after the divorce it became incrementally more toxic. Neither her nor Marcus have these big dreams of earning two hundred thousand dollars a year or more in order to buy more stuff happiness can be found by living a fast simpler existence they are very happy with what they have and the house they have. She does not want for anything and although content she is a touch impatient to get that mortgage paid off faster which is an asset not a drawback I think a bit of impatience will keep her keen to achieve and make money.
