The Importance of Specifying the Right Things

I think maybe it's too vague and abstract so I think a lot of younger people arrive on campus and they might become enthralled by the life of the mind but it's never clear what it would take to achieve greatness within a field. It's important to specify some of the unsolved problems and different disciplines because if you knew by solving any of these or resolving these issues that you'd earn your place in the pantheon maybe that would motivate people more. Now it just seems amorphous it's like oh I'll go to growoh yeah I want to be a great physicist what does that meanOh I need to get into Caltech and then maybe I get ten your tracks somewhere.
