We've been on the slide in terms of our disfunctional politics. And nine 11 and the wars of the last 20 years, when they were launched, provided a kind of air sats unity that didn't really last that long. I mean, after viat nam, never really reckoned with the fact that it was engaged in a genicidal war in southeast asia. That immediately embarked upon a war on drugs and a project of prison expansion unprecedented in the history of the world. Was really continuously engaged in policies that have distributed wealth upwards and made ordinary people more and more precarious in their health andr in their work and in their neighborhoods.
