The Importance of Essence
He's going to problematize the neat split we find in Descartes between our mind and our body or spinotes. He thinks he almost thinks it's disrespectful to the body to just issue it, to just be like, oh, we can get rid of it. So here we're going to begin with our definition section. How does he define a body? A body is a mode which expresses in a certain and determinate manner the essence of God insofar as he is considered as the thing extended.
