The Relationship Between Emotional Labor and Gender

If I were hiring, I'd try to figure out what kinds of emotional skills are relevant in the job. If a teacher had an emotional outburst and screamed at a student, I would probably consider that an unhireable offense. The very close relationship between jobs that require communication,. that require the demonstration of care is linked to gender. So it's not an accident, I don't think, that many of the jobs that one describes as being emotionally demanding are done by women.
