Is There a Purpose to Evolution?
i agree that organisms can be described as having goals and purposes. But i want to emphasize again, it's not the kind of purpose that would lead you to depart from a darwinian conception of the mechanism's driving evolution. I think my world view works for people who aren't interested in questions of larger purpose,. Maybe it's richer for people who are. You yourself hold the idea. If i had to bet, i i would bet there's something we don't understand about how natural selection came to bethat explains the mystery of consciousness. And does ultimately lead to the conclusion that, in some sense, natural selection has a purpose.
