Is Super Mario Loss Levels Like Baby XCOM?

This week I definitely binge on the Super Mario loss levels, but from zero to beating it. I also picked up a Marvel midnight sun, which is a tactical strategy game built by the folks who built XCOM. It has this card mechanic, which ironically for someone who loves playing card games, I kind of find annoying. But it's one of those things where I'm like, if this wasn't Marvel, what I have bought it, right?
