Why Christians Were Persecuted
Some historians argue upwards of millions of followers of Jesus who were brutally murdered in the first three centuries of the church. Perpetua made the ultimate choice not between life and death, between allegiance to Jesus and allegiance to what Jesus called the world which goes by many names down through history. Romans didn't like anything that wasn't Roman. Followers of the way were accused of being atheists because they refused to worship the pantheon of gods and goddesses.
