After I had my son, I was going back to work. And obviously at that point, you know, having been nine months or something out of the workforce, I had to take what I could get. But an editor asked me if I wanted to write about the menopause and this was a completely new topic to me. For some, it's a terrible experience; for her, it happened to be a really good one. So I was just fascinated by this question of why do we experience this at all? What purpose does this serve biologically?
