Enchantment by Elsa Von Freitag Lauren Hovin first appeared in the transatlantic review in 1924. The poem was selected for publication by a 25-year-old Ernest Hemingway who served as the guest editor of that particular issue. There are at least eight variants of this poem, according to scholar Suzanne Zilazo.
