What Happens After an Arrest and Conviction?

How effective are the legal tools to prevent domestic funds from escalating? How good are restraining orders and injunctions and so on? I think they work. But a restraining order is only as good as the individual that's as egong follow it. And so those are, quite frankly, blind spots i'm not quite sure well ever be able to get over.
