St. Thomas is helpful because he helps us understand our own behavior, says John Sutter. Aquinas has a very profound sober-filled conception of the human person and what we can do to make changes in our lives. Goodness is more powerful than sin; error doesn't help anyone attain freedom or happiness. And so for Aquinas, change's always ordered within the present that is always orderable.
