How Do You Afford Having Kids?

I was 29 and my husband, he's about seven years older than me. He was late 30s when we finally decided that we were going to have kids. What more so was helpful was that we were both established with our careers. I felt like I had more seniority at work and I was able to kind of not feel that pressure to get back to work or they were at least able to work with me a little bit more.
