Are We Seeing a Breakdown of the Rights of Gay Men?
In 1977, French academics like Derrida and Sartre de Beauvoir called to petitioned for the reversal of articles that abolished age of consent laws. They drew these arguments heavily on discrimination against gay men. The free speech coalition was founded as a California trade association for the adult entertainment industry. In 2001, they filed a lawsuit against the attorney general, John Ashcroft, which sought to decriminalize the depiction of minors in sexually explicit content.
