During World War II, the U.S. and allied forces were fighting to take control of islands in the southwest pacific. The Japanese had been building up their defensive fortifications for almost two years as they awaited an American invasion. We've talked about how much hate there was on both sides but now we look back at some of the most brutal battles that took place during this war.
