"It didn't work out the way I thought it would, but made it so boom," he says of stepping on an IED. "You don't really know what you're going to do unless you've done it." The soldier's boot was at a 90 degree angle to his leg and then there were two pearly white objects protruding from his pant legs. He later realized they were fibs that had been stuck in by muscle tissue and skin.
