The Republican Party's Electoral Theory of Election Politics
The GOP is caught up in this theory of electoral politics that it's like the salesman who says, sure, we lose money on every sale, but we'll make it up in volume. Neither of those positions wins the marginal moderate Republican swing persuadable centrist, independent, right? The party of freedom become the party that is just bumper sticker taking away your freedoms. This is just a place where that becomes untenable for swing voters and then Republicans will have to defend their position.
