Nicholas Said - Born in the Kingdom of Borneo
Nicholas Said was born in the Kingdom of Borneo, and what would now be known as Northern Nigeria. Back at its peak, it was one of the biggest countries in Africa with an army that looked like it roots straight out of the Arabian Knights. Nicholas Said's father, Barkagana, was the chief general of that army. In the 1820s, he met Dixon Denim, this English explorer,. who wrote a lot about him in his books on Africa. His name became known throughout Europe and America.
