A vaccine and a way of preventing Rocky Mountain spotted fever were discovered in the 1930s. The state provided funds for an actual lab to make more vaccines, but local people weren't so sure about it. A lawsuit was filed by locals who said: "Take your weird big city ideas out of here. We don't like it"
