Is There a Tokukha in Poetry?
There's been an impulse within some poetry, especially if you think of Whitman to try to speak for all people or to speak for the crowd. By and large poetry has also been a kind of elite language gameIf we can't achieve true egalitarianism, maybe we could at least be sort of better elites,. What would make us better? Well, I would like to think that someone like Whitman would have a place for elites or for the poetry produced by elites as well as that it's not just a kind of uniform populism, right?
