There's more public support for democracy than a return to military rule, says Rory Cormack. Unlike in America, the Brazilian mob didn't even act until after the new president had taken office. It's hard to see how invading government buildings could undermine President Lula's power then. Trump couldn't get the military on side, and the crowd in Brasilia wanted soldiers to overthrow the government, but they didn't.
