The Fear of the Imagination in America
A fear of using the imagination is very deep in America and it shows in our teaching where apparently kids are read less and less and less fiction. I'm not sure they get any poetry mostly anymore you know we were fed quite a lot of fiction and poetry as kids in school. Over and over I want to send people to read Patrick O'Brien the C stories, people who are afraid of long sentences,. People who don't know how to describe action they say how do I describe, well you know well if you want to see how to write a C battle you go to O'Brien he is an incredibly good action writer.
