Is There Still a Border Pole in Northern Ireland?
The Protestant and British identifying population is older. Protestants, people who identify as British, are dying at a higher rate because they would be a larger majority in the older age cohorts. People of a Catholic background and Irish identification are the majority in those younger age groups. It's an age-related factor, more so than a birth rate-related factor at this point.
