The Twin Cycle Hypothesis and Ectopic Fat

There was a paper that Taylor's group published on some of the underlying differences between the responders and non-responders. The discriminator was getting back the first phase insulin response. I disagree with the twin cycle hypothesis and this idea that it's got to be linked to ectopic fat because there are earlier studies where if you normalize blood glucose, that gets you restoration of some beta cell function. And so I actually am more convinced by glucose toxicity as maybe the key cause, maybe just as one of the causes of what's causing damage to beta cells.
