When trying to imagine a just society, it's hard not to evoke images of balance and symmetry. Economists will often admit this, if you ask them in the right way. The problem comes when they declare that any one who ignores the dictates of the market shall surely be punished. Some degree of reciprocity can be detected as potentially present in any situation.
