David Frum: Why is it that a disease like this one is so much worse in cities, whereas a disease like malaria is actually worse in rural communities? He says the more people there are, as there are in cities, the more the virus can spread. But if you look at a vector-borne disease like malaria, it's quite different. Frum: Every species that gets infected with a virus, say, has a natural epidemic cycle. If human beings persist in engaging in contact with non-human species, we could lead to a very significant reduction in the population of bats.
