A jury in Manhattan will now decide whether former president Donald Trump is guilty of battery and libel. Officials tell the Washington Post that the gunman who killed eight people at a mall in Texas over the weekend was briefly enlisted in the US Army but was discharged over a mental health condition. The shooter's motive remains unclear but police are examining online posts in which he expressed hate towards women and black people.
For the past three years, the United States has relied on Title 42, a pandemic restriction that has allowed the swift expulsion of many migrants at the southern border. But by the end of the week, that rule will expire.
