Economics will always be hovering between art and science. Will it always be retrodictive, or does it become predictive at some point? There's plenty of micro where it's predictive. We have to make macro economic decisions. To do nothing is also a macro economic decision. People didn't know that victory in 19 29 was important for the contemporary world. But i would say, in makro we're very good at retrodiction.
