The illegal migration bill was put forward to MPs in the House of Commons on Tuesday. The idea behind it is that any individual whom the government deems to have entered the UK illegally, for example, those who have travelled on small boats across the channel are no longer eligible to claim asylum. It also puts a legal duty on the home secretary to return any individual who's come to the UK via that route,. returning them to their country of origin or a third, quote, safe country.
