Nietzsche believes that in the pre-Platonic philosophers, we have many different possible molds of what following will to truth might look like. He says there were other kinds of philosophers such as Pythagoras or self-assured solitary Heraclitus. But he gives these alternate images that begin to inspire and influence what he would later say is what he would prefer for philosophy.
