The Argument for Morality in Humanism

Many religious believers would say there is no good life for the person who doesn't believe in God, because values come from God. That's precisely the sort of position that humanism sets up to disagree with, he says. It seems to me, if you get rid of God, you could argue for any kind of morality - but it doesn't follow logically, just as a matter of logic. What it depends upon is looking at what human beings are like, taking due account of the fact that human beings are social beings and have shared values.
